For the umpteenth time, the Union of Albanian Engineers has opposed two laws which aim to organize the profession of engineer and hydrotechnician. “It cannot be left in the hands of anyone except the state, all existing licenses will be revoked”, says Dëshira Mena, director of the Union of Albanian Engineers.
The engineers state that the creation of the Order does not bring anything new, it creates a monopoly, and it is created as an independent institution that can control and manage all free professionals according to its own interests. “They intend to usurp one of the important areas of the economy, construction, starting from licensing”, says Mena. According to the Union of Engineers, in our country there are no deficiencies in the current legislation for the engineering sector in Albania. They emphasize that this profession is regulated by law, so there is no reason for the creation of orders that seek to take over the control and monitoring of every engineer in Albania.
The engineers say that so far no one has consulted with them, while there have been no shortage of requests from their side. They signed a petition with over 3,000 signatures to oppose these two laws.
